The location. We were attending the Clipper Round the World Race Return event at Ocean Village which was a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. It was also only a short walk away from a good shopping area and also ideal as we went to the isle of Wight on the Saturday, and it was a short walk to the Red Funnel high speed passenger ferry.
The noise. There are quite a few restaurants on Oxford Street and therefor it was very busy particularly on the Friday night. The breakfast facility was a bit haphazard as we had to keep asking for items such as marmalade, juice etc, but that was offset by the very pleasant and helpful staff, mainly Fi.

Location was very convenient for access to port as we were cruising next day. Taxi driver said location of cargo is in a good safe part of town. Staff carried heavy luggage upstairs. We enjoyed a lively few drinks in the bar downstairs. Young at heart ? Then your holiday starts here... Self service Continental breakfast was more than adequate in clean dining room. Indian and Chinese restaurants located in same road. Suitable for young adults and young at hearts, we are 43 and 53.
Limited access for disabled people from what I could tell, although do check.

I found the location to be excellent, close to several good restaurants and shopping.
Having previously stayed at this hotel I found on this visit that the staff were definitly less attentive. ALso the decor of the room was looking a bit on the tired side. Could definitly do with being freshened up. Having said that I would still return to stay here.

The room was airy and neat, complete with a TV, hot chocolate and very comfortable doubke bed wiyh tea. Its location was very central, right at Holy Rood Church.
Didn't like the area, it was really loud.

The location is good if your planning on going out into the town, shopping or want to be close to the docks.
Reasonable room but not value for money really. Dirty pillows on the bed and only one towel left for two people. Room was comfortable but a little cramped when your getting washed/changed. Very thin walls and not sure if the bloke in the next room actually survived his coughing fit at 6 in the morning. Poor breakfast too. Overall average stay but just not worth the money for a boutique hotel.

Enjoyed our time at this boutique hotel. We'd definitely come back 👍. Booked a standard king room with fantastic facilities.

Unusual and quirky hotel.
Noisy in street in front facing rooms. No water or biscuits supplied (as promised). Soaps empty. Magnetic room keys fitted ALL rooms! We were told breakfast included, but actually cooked breakfast is extra and were not told until after.

Cargo is not a "Hotel" . It is a restaurant/bar with some bedrooms above, which may have been comfortable, but we did not stay to find out. There were no facilities for reception, or luggage or elevator, and we left (after agreeing to pay a cancellation fee) and found a hotel to stay in. The manager let us store our luggage (while at the beginning we waited for a room to be made up) in a downstairs toilet for the disabled. This place would perhaps be ok for a young traveler, but we are a mature couple. The taxi drivers at the airport, when we asked for the Cargo Hotel, had never heard of it, although it is downtown Southampton, which made us a little suspicious as we came in from the airport.
